HP Speech & Debate is kicking off again as students return to school, and many from debate camp. In the coming weeks and months, we hope to add more posts as the 2025-2026 season begins.

Students have begun meeting after school to plan for the upcoming year and conduct preliminary research. We expect the year to kick off with Plano Senior on September 5th. Looking forward, we have students participating in the Grapevine Tournament on September 12th and the Greenhill Tournament on September 19th, respectively.

We are excited to welcome many returning members and new faces who are looking to join the team for the upcoming year. The current resolutions for our debaters in each event are as follows:

Policy: “Resolved: the United States federal government should significantly increase its exploration and/or development of the Arctic.” (Year-long)

Lincoln-Douglas: “Resolved: In the United States criminal justice system, plea bargaining is just.”

World Schools:

1. “This House regrets the rise of surge pricing.”
2. “This House, as a government, would prioritize financing space colonization over financing deep sea exploration.”
3. “This House regrets the decline of labor unions.”
4. “This House, as a democractic government, would ban political advertising on social media platforms.”

Public Forum: “Resolved: The United Kingdom should rejoin the European Union.”
